ANIMAL SERVICES
At Veterinary Associates we provide a wide range of medical,
diagnostic and surgical services. These would include, but are not limited
to;
- General Consultation.
- Prescription of animal remedies.
- Full animal health check with vaccination.

We also provide consultations and surgery for exotic pets such as;
rabbits, guinea pigs and birds.
We offer phone advice for clients (where appropriate), and general advice
such as; worming, flea control, feeding and general health care.
We provide a full range of consultation, diagnostic and surgical services
and have a close relationship with Massey University when specialist referral
work is needed.
LARGE
ANIMAL SERVICES
There is an extensive range of services supported by two full time and
two part time large animal veterinarians. These cover both equine and
production animal and include;
CATTLE
AND SHEEP
- Production management advice such as drench and vaccine advice.
- Faecal egg counting.
- Development of production animal health programs, including mineral
testing and liver biopsies.
- Diagnostic blood testing programs such as for BVD in cattle.
- Ram palpation and bleeding.
- Cattle reproductive work such as; pregnancy scanning, bull testing,
calving assistance and anoestrous management programs.
- Flock and herd death investigations including ill thrift investigations
and post mortem for diagnostics.
- Vaccination programs including Leptospirosis.
- General farm consultation.
EQUINE
Reproductive work such as;
- Pregnancy scanning, caslicks, foaling, castrations.
- Tube Drenching.
- Blood testing.
- Lameness exam, radiography and tendon scanning.
- Endoscopy.
- Pre-purchase exams.
- Foal branding and horse micro-chipping for identification.
- General consultation and medicine.
- Horse identification.
