OUR
CLINIC

Veterinary Associates has a very personal, welcoming feel. The clinic
is located in a residential area on a quiet street which offers plenty
of easily accessible parking.
THE
RECEPTION AREA
This
is the first area you will enter, where you will be greeted by our reception
staff.
There is a waiting area (although we dont like to
keep people waiting, so it isnt used that much), along with an area
displaying pet supplies and the premium food brands that we carry.
Clients
can purchase non prescription products over the counter with advice from
our well trained staff, including:
- Flea treatments
- Worm treatments
- Shampoos
- Collars and leads
- Grooming aids
- Premium foods
- Cat carry cages and boxes
A
weighing scale is available for all members of the public to use for assessing
the weight of their pets, and our nurses are more than happy to offer
advice on ideal weights and feeding programs based on the weight and condition
score of your pet. This is a free service.
SMALL
ANIMAL CLINIC
CONSULTATION ROOMS
The small animal side of the business is serviced by two consultation
rooms, each fully equipped with examination facilities, including blood
testing and eye testing.
Our front consultation room is also equipped with a microscope
for examination of smears, for example, when looking for skin parasites
or identifying agents involved in ear infections.
The back consultation rooms doubles as our diagnostic room for ultrasound
scanning and radiography as well as minor surgery.
SURGERY
There
is a dedicated sterile surgery suite which is fully equipped for surgery
be it routine or complex. The anaesthetic machine is a modern isoflurothane
gas anaesthetic machine, which incorporates oxygen and heart rate monitors
as well as breathing monitors, which are used routinely for gas anaesthetics
at Veterinary Associates. Doppler (or blood pressure) monitors are also
available when needed.
An ultrasonic dental scaler and polishing unit is housed
in the surgery and is used routinely for dentals.
ASSOCIATED FACILITIES
The
consultation rooms are supported by a well stocked pharmacy so that prescription
needs can be met immediately in most cases.
There is a kennel area which is temperature controlled for
comfort, and an isolation ward for infectious cases.
There is also a radiograph developing room and a dark room
for ultraviolet ringworm testing.
A
blood chemistry analyzer is housed in the small animal area which allows
for immediate in-house blood testing. This has been especially useful
for routine pre-anaesthetic blood testing, along with regular monitoring
of hospitalized patient progress.
LARGE
ANIMAL SERVICES
The
majority of our farm animal work is performed off site at the clients
location. However, we have a grassy paddock which is used frequently for
horse examination, radiography and dentistry, along with the odd goat
and sheep.
We have a mobile scanner, endoscope and radiography machine,
so equine diagnostic work can be performed out in the field. We also have
a dedicated portable Heads Up pregnancy scanner for use in
production cattle.
Within
the clinic, there is a large farm animal supply area, which contains an
extensive range of farm animal products such as;
- Drenches, Pour Ons, Dips
- Horse Worming Pastes
- Trace Elements and Metabolics
- Antibiotics and Injectables
- Horse Electrolytes
Vaccines
- Bandages
- Ointments and Lotions
- Vaccine Guns and Syringes.
There is always a veterinarian on hand to discuss any needs our production
and equine clients may have.
